About us
Standing beside families after fatal road crime
Road Trauma Support Group NSW was founded by families who’ve lost loved ones to criminal acts on our roads. We’re a community built on lived experience, compassion, and emotional safety, supported by professional counsellors and a very caring support team.
If you’re navigating grief or injustice, we’re here.
We understand that road trauma doesn’t end with the crash. The impacts are long-lasting, life-changing, and deeply personal. That’s why our support is too. From the moment of crisis through court proceedings, anniversaries, and beyond, we offer practical, emotional, and ongoing support tailored to the needs of each individual.
What We Offer
We provide personalised, no-cost support to families across NSW, including:
24/7 trauma counselling through our dedicated support line
Peer support meetings and connection with others who understand
Support during court processes and assistance navigating the justice system
Crisis logistics (e.g. guidance on navigating police, coronial services, contact with Government departments like Victims Services and SIRA, helping to arrange funerals and memorials, emergency accommodation)
Remembrance events, including the World Day of Remembrance and other opportunities to honour loved ones
Ongoing check-ins because grief doesn’t follow a timeline
We work closely with the NSW Police Force and Transport for NSW to reach families early, and remain available for as long as we’re needed.
How We Work
Our approach is shaped by the voices of those we support. We are committed to:
Supporting individuals through trauma-informed care, counselling, peer support and crisis services
Building a community of care by connecting families with each other, producing self-help resources, and creating meaningful spaces for reflection and remembrance
Expanding our reach to families in regional and remote areas, and responding to diverse needs
Continuously improving services by co-designing programs with families, drawing on national and international best practice, and investing in volunteer-led regional support
Why We Exist
We honour those lost by supporting those left behind. Whether it’s sitting beside a parent at court, answering a late-night phone call, or helping a sibling write their victim impact statement we’re here.
Every action we take is in direct response to what families tell us they need whether that’s emotional support, practical help, or opportunities to connect with others who understand.
We walk with them through the long, hard road of grief and healing.
Our Purpose
We’re here for victims and their families everything we do centres on supporting those left behind.
Our Vision
To set the standard for compassionate, world-class trauma support for families and friends whose loved one was killed due to a criminal act on NSW roads.
Our Mission
To stand beside families and friends with personalised, accessible support — at no cost and available whenever they need us, for as long as they need us.
